Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide sedation is one of the safest sedatives that we can use in Advanced Dental Care.
Nitrous oxide, which is also known as “laughing gas”, is an effective and safe sedative agent that when mixed with oxygen and inhaled can help you relax. It has rapid update, fast recovery and good effect. After the nitrous oxide sedation, the patients can safely drive their car after a short period of time.
We offer this to help make you feel comfortable during certain dental procedures and it is not designed to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any directions or requests. You will be asked to breath normally through your nose and in a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the inhaled gas. It may be possible to feel tingling sensations in your arms and legs and also a feeling of lightheadedness. Some patients say that they felt a feeling of heaviness on their arms and legs. But ultimately, it will should make you feel calm and comfortable. The effects will wear off soon after the sedative supply is removed.
